He told the students at the beginning of the school year in an assembly that he will not ban phones in the classroom. The kids cheered. Meanwhile us teachers get points off of our evaluations when students pull them out in class or when we can't engage them. We are fighting against phones- it's impossible to compete. However, the principal probably wants kids to have their phones because the admin have been unable to find a way to find and contact students during the day if they need to check out.
