[/quote] This is exactly the scenario under which someone should accept the offer. You know you're leaving, either due to retirement or another offer, so you can sweeten the pot and leave. I listened to a webinar yesterday, and the attorney said that even in cases of retirement (where the employee was planning on retiring), it aycan often be more beneficial to stick around because you may be able to get a "better" offer via VERA or VSIP.
