That's 3 days too long!
I have already done 5 day trips with the same group and so am comfortable with the amount of time. The number of days does depend partly on travel each way.
Just go to Savannah. You'll like it.
I think you might be right. I feel guilty suggesting it as DH and I had planned a weekend there on our own two weeks ago but had to cancel the night before when DS started throwing up (turned out all night). But I have checked with him and he is fine with me going without him.
I really think Savannah will be perfect for this trip - and you can go back with your husband. I've been to Savannah four or five times now and I always enjoy it. My only hesitation is that five days might be a bit long, unless you want to rent a car and take some day trips. In addition to the things that are super close - the beach islands, the salt marshes you can go to Hilton Head for a day if you feel like it. You can get to Charleston in about two hours from there, and even head down to Amelia Island (2 hrs) or St Augustine in about three hours. (Actually, St Augustine is another place I'd consider for this trip, now that I think of it - I love St Augustine, and I think it's sort of ideal for a girls trip; though again, you'd want a car for some day trips after about day 2.5-3.) Another place I'd consider, at the opposite end of the weather spectrum, is Portland, Maine. I only think of it because I'm considering a week-long trip there this summer with my spouse and parents, so I've been checking out stuff to do in the area and in the city, and I feel like we'll easily be able to fill a very nice week.
