Urban planner again- Most of these streets were designed anywhere from 30-100 years ago. Yes the population increase in MD does impact traffic. Buses, unless they are in a separated lane, are not that convenient for people coming from MD. Again, think of Covid times and how little traffic was in the street. Work from home, hybrid etc is the best solution long term. So for Davenport folks who voted for trump, watch more traffic with his day one exec order for return to work 5 days a week.
Nope. Purposely reducing lanes on Commuter Arteries is the issue. Subtracting vehicle lane to add bus and/or bike lanes has caused major congestion and sends too many cars onto neighborhood streets.
Same on Old Georgetown Road, our neighborhood and our street has become a major cut through since they decided to restrict one of the corridors into DC. Current Urban Planner, take a look at what your predecessors created, the corridor and wedges system, you've screwed it. Figure out another solution for bikes (why take away 2 lanes, make it one for bikes, and make the other reversible, into DC in the morning and out in the afternoons). Same for the bus lanes. You think you will force us all onto busses and bikes, but you won't. You'll make those of us who chose to spend our money on close in leafy suburbs leave, with our money. And MD is already in trouble with their tax base having tanked in 2008 and never recovered. People used to move here for proximity to DC, and schools. Since both of those are now tanked, and as soon as our youngest is done with school (we left MCPS a while ago, as it is on a fast and furious downward slide as well), we are leaving, along with our tax dollars.
