To the PP; The problem isn’t the snow days themselves but rather the lack of cohesion in the far too numerous jurisdictions in the region. You’ve got the federal government open without delay and WMATA operating on a modified snow schedule. You’ve got employees for all school districts who live in a different district with their own kids. You have varying states and agencies responsible for plowing and clearing. You’ve got the park service, and multiple states making decisions that affect what is basically one region and when they all are different it’s chaotic and annoying. There should be a unified regional DMV response to weather conditions like these instead of a grab bag of varying decisions.
The idea that the federal government needs to work with DCPS and MOCO to determine whether to open is a ridiculous idea. None of these entities have the same objective. Federal workers are adults who live all over the region. DCPS students live in a small area but have much different needs/challenges than adults.
