Central to the Shettles method is his theory that XX and XY sperm cells swim at different rates.  This is only a theory as far as I know.  But, it guides his further theories on positions for conception.

In a nutshell, he posited that “shallow penetration coupled with the sperm deposited close to the cervical entrance favors female conception because the area is more acidic, which inhibits the weaker Y sperm, according to the hypothesis. To allow the Y sperm, which supposedly moves faster, to reach the egg first, use deeper penetration to deposit the sperm at the least acidic area near the uterus opening.”

The cervical entrance IS the uterus opening. Near the cervix = deep penetration, not shallow penetration. Wtf. I’m not convinced this Shettles lad actually knew enough about female anatomy to comment. [/quote]
