Why would they go away? What's the point? If they work and are effective - they have a place.
So much to unpack here but effectiveness is not the issue and not something drug companies, insurance companies or the government really care about. The FDA just sided with Eli Lily and compounded tirzepatide is no longer allowed starting 60 days from today. So, yes, there is a point - Eli Lily is tired of losing business and wants to go after compounding pharmacies who made these drugs affordable. And no, insurance companies are dropping coverage for GLP-1 meds left and right this year so many people turned to compounding. Semaglutide will be ok for a while until that's banned too. Problem is that people paying $199 a month are not going to suddenly pay $1600 a month for the same meds. It's not financially possible so many will go without or try new compounding pills (which apparently don't work very well) Compounding pharmacies knew this ban was coming and are trying to reformulate the compounded drugs to say they are different. Whether that works is yet to be seen. I hope it does work.
It won't work. Big Pharma is not going to F%$# around with this.
