You can't build in the ocean and much of very mountainous areas surrounding are not economically viable for development. There is also a substantial amount of federal/state land surrounding LA that is protected and not available for development. Seattle was a major beneficiary of the tech boom and there is also an ocean that limits outward growth of the metro area on one side. Boston is the most comparable and their growth in property prices has been fairly similar. [/quote]
