One way or another there's going to be backing in or backing out, whether it's done on upon arrival or departure. Backing in is more safe, limiting the backward range of vision required to the spot into which you're parking vs backing out where your backward vision of the parking lot's cross-traffic is further obstructed by cars/SUVs left and right. Either way, when I'm waiting for a car to depart a space I want to back into, I wait before the spot, with my blinker on. Then, once the car has cleared I proceed forward and turn opposite the space only enough to efficiently back into the space. Never had an issue with the person behind not understanding what I'm doing. [/quote]
