No, Israel knows that not all the hostages are dead, it’s just that they don’t care.  Israeli military has long operated on the “Hannibal Directive” - that any IDF soldier under threat of being killed could be shot by other IDF.  This protocol was employed during Oct 7th when the order was given to use maximum force (i.e. lethal force) to prevent the return of vehicles to Gaza after the Oct 7 attack. It is assumed that the Israeli military and political establishment has essentially applied the Hannibal principle to the hostages - whether alive or dead, the Israeli government will not negotiate for their return - the hostages are essentially dead to the Israeli government unless they have immediately actionable intelligence that they could use to conduct a recovery raid with minimal risk of casualties. (Fairly unlikely, but has happened once.)

Where would they have been kept, underground for over a year?   Did Humas keep them all together,?  There is no way this many could still be alive and even if they be are Humas will return them DOA. I am looking forward to trump stopping all wars on Day 1!  What a joke.[/quote]
