Los Barriles in B.C.S is spectacular.  Lots of expats but not touristy at all.  It’s between La Paz and Cabo on the Sea of Cortez.  I’ve been going there my whole life.  Never ever had a single issue or scary moment.  The people are warm and wonderful.  The geography is stunning.  Across the Peninsula is Todos Santos on the Pacific Side.   A little more built up and attracts a lot of artists etc.

Check both out.  I’m as gringo as it gets and I’ve never once ever had anything remotely sketchy happen in all my time in these places (probably about 8 years of my life total).  I do speak Spanish, but most of the Mexicans’ English in that part of the country is better than the Yanks’ Spanish.  [/quote]

I think it is a very different comparison. I would not move to Baltimore nor would I recommend it to a person asking where to move to in the US. A big difference between the US and Mexico is that here the police have power. You can go to the police if there is an issue. In Mexico you are on your own, there are no recourse. That is true in many South American countries, but in Mexico it is worse because the Cartels controls most of the areas. [/quote]
