In a normal time/economy, people could be a little more mobile in order to cut fuel consumption in their daily commutes.  But with homeowners underwater, it just isn't as easy.  So we wind up with people who have to make VERY hard choices about jobs, fueling cars and feeding their families.  But, again, there is very little that can be done to fix this problem.  It is a problem of our own making to a large extent since we never invested a public transport and kept building farther from job centers on the mistaken notion that we'd always have cheap gas.

Again, roll the damn tape when even Fox News said there was nothing a president could really do to control gas prices.[/quote]
