Yes, this is exactly how he introduced himself. He went straight into details about his family being from (insert Deep South town) and how long it had been since he had come up to where we live. I would say he’s probably mid seventies, maybe 75-ish or so. Absolutely the Southern extroverted grandpa you would picture with the nickname.
