There is a difference in the honors classes with kids who came from GenEd in most cases. The former AAP kids complain that they are slowing down the class pace
+1 yep. My DS reports the same. The honors classes are filled with both non AAP and AAP kids. Some of the non AAP kids clearly do not belong. I wish HS still had AAP classes.
But all of the AAP kids do?
They are more likely to move at the pace of the class. Social Studies, Science, and LA are not that much different for AAP vs Honors and the kids who have been in LIV in ES are prepared for the LIV/AAP class in MS. Math is the one class where there is not an AAP class, and I know a decent number of AAP kids who don't test into Algebra 1 H in 7th grade or do and choose Math 7 Honors because they just are not that excited about math or school.
