Some background for those who are interested: Turner was briefly the principal of nearby a DCPS between stints at Two Rivers but his 1-year contract there was terminated early under very non-transparent circumstances. That school (JO Wilson) has since gotten a principal who seems to have settled things down and created stability and an upward trajectory there. https://www.washingtoninformer.com/community-leaders-parents-condemn-dismissal-of-wilson-principal/
The situation at JO was very out in the open with public meetings and such. There were adults at JO who were bullies and harmful and unkind to children and other educators and Mr. Turner stood up to them and rocked the boat with central administration about it.
Yes that was ultimately the story that came out but if Turner has now been fired midyear from TR4 it raises some questions. Especially since the principal who replaced Turner at JOW appears to have have addressed that issue and I have not heard of reports of kids being bullied or unkind to kids in years there. So perhaps the situation is different than we all thought at the time. Which is why it would be useful if someone from TR4 would explain what happened. Transparency in these issues is important for the community (and also actually decreases gossip).
No criticism of the current principal but I believe the two problem teachers were force-placed at other schools. I recall there was a female teacher moved to Stuart-Hobson and a male teacher moved elsewhere.
Very much this. The public hearing that occurred was heart wrenching and included students (very brave students) speaking about bullying and abuse suffered from teachers. Most or all of which occurred prior to Guye taking over. Hate on Guye if you wish, but don't make up facts or engage in revisionist history to support your position. P.S. Rumor had it that Guye settled with DCPS and got a fat settlement after he was unceremoniously fired by JOW.
