DC got into UCLA but not Berkeley. I say it’s worth a shot to apply to both. DC was CS major. FCPS, non magnet, 4.0uw, 1540 SAT.
Did he attend? Any thoughts on being an OOS student there?
We did visit after his acceptance, but he did not attend. He liked UCLA a lot. DC is at another large OOS public and loves it.
Hmm, for a kid who loved UCLA, we are wondering about alternatives. Kid is not interested in, say, UMich or UVA. Might add UWashington to the list. High stats, unlimited budget. Any suggestions?
Why do they not like UMich or UVA? What major? Do they love CA? Try UCSD and Stanford. For my DC it came down to program being offered/value of program in their final decision. DC mainly considered these options when acceptances rolled in: Cornell, GA Tech, UT Austin, UCLA, and UMich. At UT Austin (Turing) and loves it.
Thank you. Loves CA, wants in, or close to, a major city. Did not like Charlottesville and not interested in visiting Ann Arbor. UT is a good suggestion, thanks.
