Our dog gets treated like our kid. Why do you care? Yes, she comes out with us. She can dine outside just fine.
She ‘dines’ with you huh. What is it, kibble for the main course and butthole for dessert? Do you offer her a port after as an aperitif?
She rarely eats kibble and the kibble we buy is more than homemade so I make her food and freeze it. And, she shares my food depending on what. What’s the big deal feeding your dog real food?
No one wants your dog in a restaurant. Disgusting.
I don't have a dog, but I'm curious. Why? If the dog lays by their table, and doesn't come in contact with either you, your food, or food preparation in general, what's disgusting about it?
It is illegal in almost all jurisdictions for a reason. Why do you think Health Departments have banned animals (with the exception of actual service animals - which was forced on them by the ADA.)?
Because health departments are full of officious idiots who enjoy being authoritarians in their fiefdom. There’s no legitimate reason to keep dogs out of restaurants. Dog owners aren’t keeling over dead and restaurants around the world don’t somehow have inferior health standards to your dear Applebees or wherever you choose to sit your fatass on a Friday night - yet many allow dogs.
Lol as though anyone in a health department now is the one who created rules against dogs in restaurants. Please. This has been the norm for ever. Even if dogs where legally allowed in restaurants most restaurants would ban them because it poses too many potential problems. Yes there is health concern and the unsanitary aspects of dogs -- they walk around on the ground all day and get feces and pee on their paws and then they touch their owners with their paws or climb around in their owners cars and all those particles get transferred -- it's gross. Plus a lot of dogs shed a lot. Is the risk of illness super high -- no. But the ick factor is high for a lot of us. Same reason I don't want to eat somewhere that people are barefoot or shirtless. It's unappetizing. And then on top of that you have the issues of allergies and the potential that a dog could cause some other issue becasue they are in fact animals not people. Sure most dogs don't bite but how do you screen for that -- some dogs are aggressive and it's easier to just say "no dogs" then try to discern this. Dogs can also behave in unexpected ways and because they are close to the ground you run the risk of them tripping an employee or customer or running into someone. Even just having an enthusiastic dog wag it's tail could jostle a table and spill something or the tail winds up going in someone's food or something. No one is going to die but people are paying to be there and it's just adding an element of chaos that it's not worth it to deal with. And while I don't like comparing dogs and kids all the time the truth is that kids aren't allowed everywhere and for similar reasons. This is why you see kids at the library but not at bars on a Saturday night (and why most bars don't let you bring in kids especially not at peak hours). It's just common sense. Some places are not appropriate for dogs just as some places are not appropriate for babies or your 90 year old grandma or whatever.
