I'm in downstate NY and, trust me, a good LL Bean down coat is plenty warm (I'm outside a lot). Doubtful CG in DC is ever a necessity. CG is absolutely status signaling around here. Take away the logo and I really wonder how many people would be wearing them.[/quote]

+100.  Winter's in the DC Metro area are nowhere near cold enough to warrant a coat that is designed of researchers working in the Arctic and Antarctic regions.  We only have so many days that get below freezing, and even for these days, plenty of other coat brands will do just fine.  The people I see wearing CG around DC in the winter are generally young women who put them on to get from their boutique spin studio to Starbucks, only if they can't park their Audi SUV right in front. People are ridiculous. I get REALLY cold in the winter. I don't care whether you think I need a CG or Moncler or whatever. Whether I want the patch, it's my money. FYI, I have a heavy Moncler parka and I'm still cold in the winter in DC. [/quote]

+1. I live in NYC, which is not much colder than DC, and am the same. I get cold below 40 degrees and wear my CG (black label) below that. People’s bodies regulate temperature differently. I am perfectly comfortable in humid 95-degree weather and want a sweater if it’s below 70![/quote]
