No one here will likely care, but Radford just built a gorgeous new building for their arts programs. https://www.radford.edu/artis-center/index.html My daughter was accepted into their dance program and new dance spaces were definitely a big pro as she was making her decision. Radford wound up a very close #2, but we really liked Radford and I have seen pics inside the glass walled studio and am so excited for the students there. Side note - my kid has already in a tough moment talked about transferring, so she may wind up there eventually. Obviously told her to give it more time at her current school, but won’t be mad if she changes course.
Thank you! I care! Radford graduate (‘92) and former tour guide and ambassador. I’ve often said that I’d no longer be able to lead a tour because the campus has vastly improved and changed! Looks like Artis is on the Moffett Quad.
It is right near the dining hall and the fitness center (which is also very nice) I never got an official tour, so the quad names aren’t familiar to me. It’s a cute campus, though! The surrounding area isn’t the best, but they aren’t far from Blacksburg and they now have an agreement for a Radford student section at VT games. I think that new building will be a draw. The views from the dance studio are lovely. A sun filled large studio rather than being trapped in a windowless basement studio is definitely a big deal. They do have a really nice program there. I know someone who chose it over Butler, which is one of the hardest dance admits in the country. I am almost positive I read that UMW was also going to build a new arts center. Like I said - happy to see this investment happening. It is nice not just for students but also the communities.
