I’m a Maret parent and the band teacher left for personal reasons, certainly not due to any lack of support. She wrote an incredible email to her current students and parents earlier today. A larger mass email to the rest of the school community went out later in the day. She will be truly missed.
By lack of support do you mean that she was one person teaching that many kids while the former department chair never got a second band person to take done of her teaching load? She was amazing. She did after school clubs twice a week, the band sounded fantastic, never better. Support would have been more people in the band department, especially if she had health issues.
You seem to be upset - not sure if you have some personal issue with all of this. Are you at Maret? They brought a fabulous man in last year who was beginning to take on some of her duties this year, including some of the Middle School band classes (and Upper School). I think you are out of line and misguided.
Definitely not a Maret teacher, but I am a musical director at a neighboring school. I value myself too much to overwork myself at Maret. Those faculty are given a bar that is too high, and too few resources to achieve what's expected of them. That's why 25% of the faculty left post pandemic. So no, I'm not a Maret teacher and happy to say so.
lol sure. You just go out of your way to post negative things about a school you know nothing about?
Reputation is all a place has these days and this is a small town and a small industry. Tell me I'm wrong. I stand firm, I've heard enough not to work there. This whole thing proves it.
