The difference is that there weren't rapid school shootings when I went to elementary, middle or high school and I doubt there were when you went either. Today, school shootings are being reported multiple times per year. Here go a couple of stats to keep in mind: - Since the shooting at Columbine High School in 1999, more than 338,000 students in the U.S. have experienced gun violence at -- There were more school shootings in 2022 – 46 – than in any year since Columbine. This mirrored America’s broader rise in gun violence as it emerged from the pandemic. We'd all like to live in the good times of our own past. But the kids today are living in a world where school shootings happen more than they ever had before. This is a new normal. And it is terrifying. [/quote]
