My kid is at MacArthur and a bunch were picked up early by their parents. This is too much for kids.
Seems like it’s too much for the parents.
Insane parents. I grew up with bomb and death threats so I’m perhaps not the best judge in these situations but my kids are going to school and life is normal.
You the same type to say “thoughts and prayers” when kindergarteners get gunned down? I think we as a society have grown too numb to gun violence in our schools. The folks calling parents “insane” for choosing to comfort their scared children are part of the problem. Stop shaming people for having a normal human reaction to a terroristic threat of violence.
No, not at all. I am actually pro-gun control. I don’t think the average citizen should be allowed to own anything beyond a hunting rifle. Hand guns and automatics should be banned. I provided a disclaimer. But the statistics do not support pulling your child out of school. It also feeds into their fears. As I mentioned, I had bomb threats and death threats at my house growing up due to a parent’s job. It was something we were aware of and took extra precautions but it largely didn’t interrupt our lives, which is good because nothing came from the threats. You cannot live your life in fear.
You have no idea what is going on in other families. Maybe they have a child with high anxiety. Maybe they lost a loved one to gun violence and it’s just too much. Maybe they decided they didn’t want their kid to have to sit around wondering wtf was going on in their very disrupted school day. Worry about yourself.
