How can any State with at least half black and young voters combined ever vote R?
Structure your voting system so it's very easy for wealthier, whiter, older citizens and harder for poorer, darker, younger citizens. Provide fewer voting machines per capita in urban areas, for example.
I flew down to Selma, AL back in 2016 to drive voters to the polls for the Doug Jones election. It was such an eye opening experience in terms of the hurdles voters in some R states are subjected to. I’m in awe of the marginalized who do continue to vote, despite being turned away for illegitimate reasons again and again (eg, elderly voter who has lived at the same home for decades being told at the place she’s voted at numerous times that she must vote at a new place 15 miles away, then being told at that place that her polling station is really 15 miles in a different direction). It’s absolutely criminal and made me far more sympathetic to R states who have almost impossible odds to overcome R rule.
Gaws that's awful. Can't believe this type of sh*t still goes on in 2024. Rs can only win if they cheat.
Go read the thread about voting rights started two years ago by some right winger who didn’t think we needed voting rights protection. After fifty pages of being shown to be wrong as hell, he admitted, “wow I haven’t read the thread, too long, so outtie.” Indeed, Republicans can only win by cheating, which is why they’re throwing registered Democratic voters off the rolls willy nilly.
