The new Grand Wagoneer is a total embarrassment to the vintage model from the 1970s-80’s. What started as a rugged, utilitarian vehicle to access remote areas and bring the family has become nothing more than a status symbol for people who like to think their life mirrors a Vineyard Vines photo shoot. Wannabe Instagram influencers have completely ruined the vintage models and the new model is a sad shell of its former self.
This. The once classic workhorse has been totally commandeered by preppy businesses and young adults who probably can’t even drive a standard transmission. On a humorous note, I saw a massive new Grand Wagoneer being pulled out of a muddy farm field earlier this summer. Who would have thought a 4000 pound rear while drive brick with factory tires wouldn’t be able to get out of a muddy field?
Isn't it 4WD?
I must have seen a Wagoneer as opposed to a Grand Wagoneer. The Wagoneer is available in 2 or 4 wheel drive. The Grand Wagoneer is standard 4 Wheel drive.
And, it's real 4WD (similar to what is on the wrangler, although not sure it has lockers/sway bar disconnect, etc.). So, if it couldn't get out of the field, blame the driver and maybe the tires but not the drivetrain.
