But it is most prevalent among Democrats and liberals.  I don't think it's inane.  It may seem minor to you, but the gender gap is real.  And the whole "dude" thing just makes it more apparent.  Might as well trot out Ned Flanders to propose that "us dudes" have a talk about voting for Democrats.  It's embarrassing and off-putting.  There is also an undertone of condescension to it--like we're not even going to call you a "man" or "men," but rather "dudes."[/quote]
