Which is why moaning about gate checking is silly. You don't have to pay to check your bag and your bag still goes to your destination. The inconvenience of waiting for baggage on the other end is no different to the inconvenience of the flight departing 20 minutes behind schedule because of people fussing with putting bags in the overhead (so many people bring on oversized bags that don't really fit or engage in ridiculous behavior about how they put their bags up and it's deeply irritating when that's why the flight is late). More on time flights are good for all fliers because a single late departure can have ripple effects on many other flights.
