I hire from California with a committee that includes people from California and no one thinks going to community college is optimal.  We also review transcripts for those out of college less than 5 years.  Generally, it is not seen as favorable to have attended community college rather than directly to a 4 year college in the hiring process [/quote]

I don’t understand…kid says they graduated from Berkeley (true).  How do you know they even went to CC until after they have an offer?

Lots of companies review transcripts for relatively new grads.

We review transcripts as part of the application  process so we know they went to CC.  And I also work for a California company (someone assumed wrongly above that I don’t) and hire for California and the East Coast.  And it’s not CC to Berkeley vs some college ranked 1000. That’s apples to oranges.  It’s CC to Berkeley vs direct admit to Berkeley for 4 yrs or to wherever in the top 50 schools.  [/quote]

What s**t company do you work at that looks at transcripts as part of applications?  It isn’t any of the super successful CA tech companies.  They also wouldn’t care that you started at CC and then killed it at Berkeley for the final two years…why would anyone care about that?
