Change your diet. Food is what makes the scale move.
+1. Unless you have a rare metabolic issue, what you need to do to drop the 12 lbs is reduce your calories by a lot. If you start eating a strict 1200/day and getting in 10k steps (or daily cardio), you will lose weight, even if it's slow. I get that 1200 is low, but unfortunately it is what it is. And losing weight through your diet is way more effective and fast than trying to exercise it off. Skipping breakfast, cutting alcohol and all drinks besides black tea/coffee, and eating meals that basically consist of protein and vegetables are the easiest way to do this, IME. Weigh everything and be really mindful of counting calories from salad dressings, sauces, cooking oils, etc. There's not a lot of room for error.
No need to drop to 1200 cal to lose weight. You need to lower your carbs and up your protein while being in a small calorie deficit and lift heavy weights. This will cause your body to recomp and while you may not see a quick change on the scale you will be replacing fat with muscle and will look leaner overall.
