When I’ve seen a coach tell a player not to dribble as much, it has nothing to do with being against dribbling or creativity but that they are trying to develop a well rounded player that is creative with all the skills they have, including dribbling.  When dribbling is the default for a player, that player is not seeing all the options on the field and is a very predictable player for the opposition. The coach may think the player’s other skills are not up to par, like ball control when pressured, 1 v 1 quick, accurate passing, etc., and w

Player creativity can only truly exist when the player has ball mastery and field IQ.

The PP was clear about being against dribbling, not the decision making of when to dribble.

If you're in a position role that requires dribbling, 1v1 skills such as Winger, how do you get better from not being very good at it if you're constantly being discouraged to do so?
