I had a vaginal hysterectomy and was fine within a week. Bonus because they did a bladder sling which cured my stress incontinence and now I can run. I'd do it again.
ITA. I had a vaginal hysterectomy (left ovaries intact) with TOT sling (urinary stress incontinence) also. Dr. had suspected adenomyosis and surgery was the last resort. I had a 6 week recovery period post surgery. I had tried a diaphragm and then BCPs before kids but BCPs caused my blood pressure to elevate, then did Paragard post kids and then took that out since cramping and bleeding seemed to get even worse. I had the surgery done 5 years ago at age 38 and can now wear white pants/skirts/underclothes without worry and no more monthly cramps and other lifestyle changes! It seems to be genetic from my mother's side of the family (difficulties with menstruation, etc.) since my mom and her younger sister both had hysterectomies in their 40s. My older sis and a couple of other female cousins (maternal side) have held out, however, on having one done but they also share the "family curse"....
