NP. A lot of people socialize out of convenience with co-workers, bosses, neighbors, cousins, the parents of their children's friends, etc. If you’re a decent, inclusive person, they’re often not “your own kind.”[/quote]

I think everyone’s friend group is in some ways “their own kind” — your family is often the same race as you, your neighbours often have similar social class, your coworkers are obviously in the same profession, friends through religious groups are the same religion, etc.  But also especially in an area like this where the general population is very diverse there’s likely to be diversity along the non-shared axes: your church friends are all your religious kind but a wide variety of professions/ages/etc; your neighbours are probably similar to you money-wise but might be different races/religions/etc.  [/quote]
