In terms of that culture, probably more than most public high schools in the region, but nothing terribly alarming. ARLnow, the popular hyperlocal news site published a story a few years ago (pre covid era) about students at the school who requested teachers take down certain politically progressive banners and posters. I don’t recall if they prevailed in the effort. [/quote]

No. The racist families at YHS behaved poorly a few years ago. Not sure if any of them still have kids at the school though.

What was upsetting for me were the minority student accounts of verbal and emotional abuse/harassment at Yorktown (back in fall 2016). I remember one student in particular who was in tears in front of the school board members (during the public comment period).  [/quote]
