Some of the problems with the principal involve impulsivity, poor anger management and emotional regulation, and misplaced priorities. The last one is often due to the first two. All of that can rise to the level of emotional abuse and hostility. As for parents and families, you and your child might not encounter her in those moments. Or you might, and that’s unnerving for grown humans and very frightening for small humans. But your DC will almost certainly (sooner or later) be learning from teachers who have to live with that. Teachers’ working conditions are children’s learning conditions.
Agree with all of this. I wish I had sent my kids to private school. We didn't have a problem with the principal for several years but when we did have a problem, *boy* did we have a problem. My kids hate the principal, and their feelings are based on things they have witnessed and experienced, not on things I have said. Many Oakridge kids feel the same way. I'm curious how many elementary kids hate their principal? That in of itself seems pretty bad.
Mine did, different school, and really bad situation. Principal was eventually dismissed in a big kerfluffle but it took YEARS and a lot of damage was done.
