I literally cannot imagine having a teenager so entitled as to assume we just pay for literally everything for them up to and including voluntary social outings and purchases. My teens are smart, helpful and hardworking and want to contribute. I could not be more proud of them.
It’s not that simple, if you read the posts in detail. So far this weekend my teen drove his younger sibling back and forth to something scheduled, picked up things at the grocery store, picked up the take out food for the family last night, as well as went out socially with a friend. We don’t expect him to pay for gas 100% of the time he drives since it’s sometimes for things that help out us. Some parents offer to pay for it all, and sometimes I think I should pay for more than I do. I gave my younger one $20 to go out to eat when she went out work friends. I’m tougher on my older kid.
