18 schools. Decently(?) hi-stats, UW4.0, maxed ap’s(mostly 5’s, one 4, one 3), 1520/35. EC’s-? I thought they were good, but not sure how to quantify & subjectively judge. Rejected(8): 2 ivies, 3 ivy+(ed1 wife’s undergrad, rd my undergrad), 1 top slac, 2 oos ‘top5’ publics. Accepted(6): 2 t25’s, 2 t40’s, 2 t75 targets w/merit. Waitlist(4): 2 t25’s(1 of which turned into acceptance), 2 targets. Based on the results, I think 18 was a good #. Partly wish kid tried for more ivies & t25’s, but kid was adamant on where she wanted to go vs not go.
If your kid applied to 18 schools, and got into 6 for sure, with 4 waitlists AND the schools were deliberately chosen by your kid, why do you partly wish kid tried for more? You would have hoped for lucking out/lottery win acceptance? Better financial aid?
