Buffalo and Niagara Falls could work. I want to go to the bay of Fundy and other parts of Eastern Canada but it might be more planning than you want. Agree with the pps that if your kids are old enough, giving them a budget and letting them plan would be great.
Niagara Falls is exciting for about an hour.
But Buffalo, Niagara on the lake, and surrounding areas have more to do. Hiking at devils hole, speedboat, zip lines, funicular, bike riding, maid of the mist, mini golf... it's not just standing there looking at a waterfall unless that's what you want it to be.
I was going to say the same. I loved Niagara on the lake. Go biking there and wine tasting at one of their many vineyards (Konzelman has private yurts where we went for a tasting with our two boys who were 10 and 7). There's also Toronto which is not too far.
