As the article makes clear, there was government involvement, often by providing funding, in the invention of almost every important technology of the Internet. But, thanks for providing a source to support my contention. The name "Apache" comes from "patches" that were applied to Httpd. You say "the original code from ncsa but (sic) was removed". That means that the NCSA code was originally there, right? Again, the source you provide says "Using NCSA httpd 1.3 as a base, we added all of the published bug fixes...". Maybe Apache has shed all of its original NCSA code, but it started out with a government-funded project as its base. [/quote]
