When I waited tables in college, we brought complimentary bread to tables. We were instructed that bread that appeared to be untouched should be served again — even if you knew the guests had eaten a slice from the basket. I refused to do it. The manager would bust you if he saw bread in the trash, so I would mush it up and wrap it in napkins before throwing it out.[/quote]
