The child spends years preparing, learning a foreign language with letters that are different than English, learns to read from the sacred scroll (the Torah written in Hebrew with no vowels), learns to lead a congregation full of adults, interprets torah/leads the sermon for that same congregation. That takes monumental effort, while attending school and participating in sports and other activities. It is a right of passage, not a gift grab[/quote]
