I’m a teacher. I write letters to my one kids’ teachers. They don’t need mugs or chocolate. They need appreciation and encouragement. Things are ROUGH right now. I want them to know I see what they do and I appreciate it. For teachers who truly impress, I CC the principal.
Middle school teacher here- this is the move; a nice (specific) note and CCing admin. They often don’t know what we do or see behind the scenes.
Current administrator and former classroom teacher. I always loved notes from my families over a mug or candle. It was also a nice gesture when they would email the principal on my behalf. I get several emails from families each June about how wonderful the year was with Ms/Mr. Smith. I know it goes a long way in filling a teacher's bucket. As others have said, things are definitely rough right now and teachers need all the encouragement that they can get these days.
