I was born in '76 and was never taught this. I have also never had any interest in camping. I barely like a half-day hike. There will never be a need for a camp fire in my world.
never say never. I was born in 1970, and I don't know how to start a fire. Both my DH and DS were in scouts, and they know how to. During the pandemic when we were hanging out outside with people during the winter, we got a fire pit, and DS and DH were able to light the fire with no problem. I never learned, and DS is much better than I am at it. I can muddle through it, but it takes me longer.
