The Cursed Child (Harry Potter) was AMAZING. I am not a Broadway show person, nor a Potter person but it was incredible! Six was good, but I wouldn't see it again and Back to the Future was pretty good. I would go see Cursed Child again in a heartbeat - it was mesmerizing. And you don't need to know the Harry Potter story to make sense of it.
I saw the extended version in London. Agree that the visuals and special effects are great. Short version was developed to save audiences' time and money. I'm sure all the key effects are preserved. I saw Lion King for the first time last summer. It was a bucket list item for me. I thought the visuals were fantastic and of course by now I had heard lots about the design. I usually don't buy merch anywhere but I bought a Baby Simba Christmas ornament to remind me of the design aesthetic.
