It’s obvious your interpretation is not what’s happening, but quite the opposite. Serious question: how do you function in the world? OP, he told her something good about you. I don’t know what. That you’re pretty or smart or funny or sexy. He said something that’s put her on guard because she’s deeply insecure and pretty awful in general. My advice is to ignore her and avoid these little talks. Don’t tell her off or confront her on it. That’ll just set her off and “confirm”her bad feelings about you.
