I bought a large popcorn for them to share and offered to pay for adult tickets too - only one parent came. All in, including tickets for my children (2) and DH and me - it was probably around $200. Not nothing, but a lot less than the party we did before and the kids all seemed happy.

Btw we typically do quarter sheet cakes from the grocery store and they will do some basic decorating or have a few themes you can pick from that are still a lot less than a customized cake.
