Are electric bikes allowed on the Custis / W&OD trails? Down McArthur Blvd, to Key Bridge, then out the trails to Dunn Loring, where there is a "secret" connector to Tysons Corner.
People DO use eBikes on the W&OD and other trails, but it’s definitely, positively 100% illegal. Trail rules *specifically* mention “NO motorized vehicles”. And an eBike is clearly a motorized vehicle. I hope anyone using an eBike on the trail gets ticketed and has their bike confiscated by the police and disposed of.
Oh sh#t, The Middle Aged Spandex King graced DCUM with his presence!
1) I doubt this person is an actual cyclist, or they'd be aware that e-bikes (as opposed to mopeds) are not motorized vehicles 2) Having said that, having mopeds on a bike trail is unsafe for joggers/cyclists on the bike trail for the same reason that driving a moped on a regular road is unsafe for the moped driver
