Homo sapiens doesn't have the dentition for a straight carnivore diet. Clearly we are meant to consume plant matter in addition to meat.
We are also meant to eat animals, so by your logic, veganism and vegetarianism are also constructs that Homo sapiens were not meant to be.
We are definitely biologically programmed to have meat in our diet. Just not only meat.
Humans thrive on meat though we can survive on plants. We are able to eat some plants and fruits though toxins in plants are know to aggravate and harm people in many ways. We cannot thrive solely on plants and our ancestors knew that we had to prepare plants in ways that reduced the toxins (boil them, ferment them etc) and fruits were treats that literally induce fatty liver in our ancestors to help them put on fat for the winter.
