It would be nice if each team had flags to use when it was their turn to work, the same way in which they are supposed to have a whistle for whatever referee job they have.  Under the current system, the referees have to provide their own line flags for the court they are working and players are often really careless with them and they get lost, torn, or otherwise damaged and the ref will have to buy more.  A nice pair of flags is about $35 (the cheaper ones on Amazon are trash). Probably another factor in the huge shortage of referees for volleyball being experienced across the country. With the way some coaches and parents treat referees, it's a miracle that anyone wants to do it all.[/quote]
