DP - what "during-practice issue" are you talking about?  And what's going on with meets?

Most coaches aren't going to get upset over a few missed practices over the course of the year.  They will get upset over practice requirements not being met, being late to or scratching meets at the last minute, and/or "during-practice" issues, depending on what they are.[/quote]

It depends on the level.  Our club has multiple levels and at the lowest level it's ok to miss but do communicate.  At the higher levels, it's not ok to miss.  We stick with the lower level and decline moving up as ours swim for exercise and fun and not competition and they have multiple interests.  But, knowing that, we plan accordingly.  Its very hard to do music/orchestra and swim.[/quote]
