Watched the Freedom vs. Stone Bridge (Boys) game last night. Stone Bridge has some young talented players on offense, abd would imagine the program is on an upward trend. Game was close 2-1 (Freedom) at the end of the first. The Bulldogs had possession for at least 8 minutes that quarter but only got the 1 goal. Appeared both teams were figuring each other out, and playing not to make mistakes. 2nd and 3rd Quarters were all Freedom. They scored 5 in each quarter, and Stone Bridge got 1. It was 12-2 to start the 4th. Freedom subbed heavily, and Stone Bridge switched up their Goalie. 4th quarter was evenly played with both teams waiting for the clock to expire. Despite the loss, I think Stonebridge will continue to get better this season, and with that young attack group, figure out how to play together and make some noise against other Loudoun Teams. Not sure they can compete with Riverside, Indy and Briar Woods yet, but I liked the speed and gritty play that was lacking the past few years. Freedom is what they have been for many years, very competitive, well coached, but lack the overall depth to compete with the top 6A Schools and Riverside. They'll win alot of games again this year, but likely won't beat Battlefield. They're likely the #2 Team in Loudoun again this year, behind Riverside, and with BW, Indy and Broad Run right behind them. After those 5 teams its a drop-off in Loudoun.
