A parent I spoke with about this thought the preference was for international kids. The numbers don't seem to bear this out - since 75% of admitted freshmen are from IL. And our Chicago suburban HS admits several kids there each year. Maybe she was specifically talking about engineering/CS? Or maybe it was the cost that she was bitter about? Didn't want to ask her to elaborate because I didn't know her well enough to ask for details.[/quote]
